How Would You Like Me to Say Molcajete?
Enough with your racist, immature, insecure behavior.
“Why do you have to say it like that?”~Insecure Prick
I started studying Spanish around the age of thirty. I made horrible progress for a couple of years. Then, I discovered what is called immersion learning.
I found a school in Mexico that offered a full curriculum to include cooking and dancing. Students lodged with local families who of course did not speak English. Being fully immersed in the language and culture is a great way to learn a language.
It was just what I needed.
It was at this school where one of the teachers said to me, “Ay, David. You have a Norteño accent.”
Though I grew up in a Spanish speaking household, I did not learn to speak Spanish. I did, however, learn how to pronounce it.
Not that it took any effort. I just heard it over and over again via my grandparents and my grandmother’s television. So when it came time for me to speak Spanish, I naturally knew the correct pronunciation of most words. Of course, I still have a hard time rolling my Rs.
You try and say “Ferrocarril” correctly.
